I fought for this damn town, guns or no guns. I'm not leaving this town just because of a few beasties. In fact, these events ought to show everyone that Haven isn't to be trifled with.

That’s the spirit! We’ve gone through wolves and while we lost people, we lost them to get where we are.
It would truly be a shame to just leave Haven for more wolves to run in behind us. I’ll be staying here for the memory of the people who sacrificed themselves to get Haven here, for the memory of those who were our friends, despite their unfortunate secrets, and for the future of Haven.

The Aftermath
With the Outcasts dramatic death, the last and most terrifying of Haven's foes lies defeated. The village is saved, at least from the wolves who sought to destroy it. Yet still, with so many dead, the survival of the village was more than uncertain and after the first joy over their survival had faded, the villagers realized that they were still alone, cut off from the outside world.
In the days that followed, it was the Survivor, of all people, who made sure that the villagers would make it through. Sharing his remaining rations and supplies, he made sure the villagers made it until the snow melted and help could arrive.
The first arrivals found a village in ruins, only a handful of villagers left alive. It seemed, at first, that Haven was doomed even if its people survived. Many left, among them the Survivor. But the unexpected happened yet again. With the Mayor's survival, contacts to the capital remained strong. Help was organized, for the village that so bravely faced the werewolf pack. And in time, Haven recovered.
The first months, yes, the first years were hard. However, with the Veteran's military experience, Haven became a sturdy bulwark, a bastion in the harsh northern landscape, capable to withstand any future threat. Thanks to the Hunter, the village never ran out of food as it grew and none had to starve, no matter how hard the winters could be. And in time, people even grew to trust the Witch, who did whatever was necessary to cure their ailments in the absence of a doctor, brewing surprisingly potent potions. They all pulled their weight and in time, their efforts were rewarded.
Haven survived. More than that, it recovered and thrived.
And with this, we end our tale of a village and a werewolf pack. The surviving players are Butter Beans, thejonah, CJ, BlueShadow and Lord_EAA. However, with the village victory, InGenNateKenny, WildlingKing, Mathea, Pipas and madsinzero have also won, while Chaosjester successfully managed to get lynched after failing to kill his target before. Yet regardless of any victory, I do hope you all had fun with this. I for one certainly enjoyed this greatly! Thank you all for playing in this first round of our forum game.
Let me know if you have any recommendations or criticism, this is the first time I have actually moderated something like this, so I am glad to incorporate your feedback in potential future iterations. Speaking of, I would definitely be up for more, maybe with alternative or additional roles and/or a different setting. I know several people have expressed interest after being a bit too late to join, so this next round will be your chance to do so.

I had a blast with this game, so I down for the next round too!
While I can't weigh in much on gameplay balance and the setting, I have one criticism to make of our current formula. As fantastic as the nightly reports are, they also confirm which roles are responsible for which deaths.
This lack of ambiguity makes fake-roleclaiming significantly harder for the Wolves and Outcast. Say the Outcast chose to stay home one night and murder the villagers who visited them. If there was no night report, then the Outcast could pretend to be a Veteran who screwed up. But if it's already been confirmed by a story segment that the Outcast was responsible for the deaths, then they'd be totally out of luck. The same can be said for wolves who might want to pretend to be a hunter.
I'm definitely not saying you should drop the flavor text - it was one of my favorite parts of the game. But for the sake of balancing, it may help to be more ambiguous.
(Also as far as roles go - I'm a big fan of ToS's Medium. I don't know how it would work in a forum setting, buuut... yeah.)

Oh dear mayor I shall remain by your side then. And by the side of you all and I shall do so with a smile on my face, come now fellow villagers, for I have many supplies I prepared in my effort to survive at any cost. I am certain these will last us for many year to com-
**Six Months Later, All the food is gone** **Mayor Butter Beans Finds Lord In the chapel of all places working on pack**
Ohh.. Mayor, what a surprise. I was just.....packing.....for a camp........Oh well secrets out. I'm leaving. Sorry but the town is in sorry-er state than I am. I have to say I think this whole thing is doomed to fail so, Au revoir. Its been fun I know, but loyalty is expensive these days isn't it? And mine was built on shame of something I think was pretty stupid of me to feel shame for.
Butter Beans:....................You tried to have me killed for no reason..........
You see, exactly. Hardly a healthy relationship to start of on. Anyway. I hope you all enjoy your future cannibalistic romp. Farewell.
**Lord Leaves, Butters just stares more confused and slightly worried than anything and shakes her head slowly.**
**Lord is walking through the woods whistling**
I'm sure there's a better town somewhere around here. Maybe somewhere near the cost. This is the best idea I've ever had!!!
**Several months later, Lord is stumbling through the woods, clearly starved and dazed. Suddenly he sees a bright light in the distance.**
I FOUND IT!! THE BEACH TOWN!!!
**He runs desperately and is welcomed to a large village and taken to a tent filled with beautiful women. He collapses out of lack of energy.**
Well I tell you fair ladies that other town was just a mess. They had the most nutty people in the world. The mayor was a complete psychopath who was mostly concerned with gambling and a prostitution ring she ran. As I bravely saved the town by slaying the Outcast in one handed man to man combat while temporarily crippled after brilliantly figuring out his identity, she even dared to make shockingly unladylike passes at me. I swear even in her corrupt heart it was clear she was desperate for me and perhaps with time I could have made her an at least decent woman. But I had to go, other towns still need my wisdom.
Beautiful Townswoman: And that's what brought you here, to Gomorrah.
**Lords eyes open wide.**
Pardon me....why does this town have such a name?
Beautiful Townswoman: Oh its because we have a bit of a monster problem of our own. They say we have man eating mermaids, vampires, ghouls, trolls, chimeras, ogres, a couple of serial killers and arsonist, etc. The town is owned by a combination of the mafia and coven and we have to report any 'lawful' townsfolk daily for execution. But a brave man like you will sure beat them all in a few days right?
Yes.....of course......I Will face them and kill them all!!! All of them will die!! Before my hand!!!. Tell me where are these miscreants?!!
Beautiful Woman: Right in front of you.
**Lord realizes all the women in the tent are smiling. Slowly they begin to leave.** Beautiful Woman: See you tonight, hero... *She pulls out and kisses a long knife she had hidden in her dress*.
**Lord hurriedly begins packing provisions for the night. Lord regrets everything.**

And thus, my prediction of Lord_EAA's move to a worse town has come to pass. Thus ending the tale of the town of Haven. The End!

Ayy, villagers won! I'd like to join for a second round as well. I have a few suggestions though. As evidenced by the first round, knowing what roles and how many of each are in the game turned out to be a big advantage over the wolves. Maybe you should consider to allow a chance for 2 persons to have the same role or for a role to not appear at all. Some of the roles would have to be available only for one person of course, ie. mayor, outcast, maybe preacher, but I'd leave that to your judgement. Next, I think there should be repercussion when lynching the jester (or avenger without a target, as they're called in here). Like in Town of Salem, choosing to kill one of the persons who voted guilty would be perfect. Jester's goal should be mainly to trick the town into lynching them (at least in my opinion). That way, simply telling the town you're an avenger without a target and want to get lynched would probably not be a feasable tactic. Also I'm for medium role as well. I like what you did with the Witch role. Retributionist is probably one of the most boring roles in Town of Salem, so I'm glad you added more of the potions - makes being a witch more engaging. Also loved the little stories you wrote. They were amazing, but I think that goes without saying.

Ah, first of all, all of you who have expressed their interest to be part of a second round, I'm glad to hear it! I'll take a few days off to think of new roles, a new setting, maybe additional factions. I you have any ideas I'll gladly take them to mind! Once I have my ideas all sorted out, I will open a new thread for the second game, where you can sign up.
Second, I am really glad to hear you enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun, especially with how ridiculously perfect some of your actions ended up being (all three werewolves targeting the same guy in Night 1? The Outcast and the Alpha having the same target in Night 2?) and I hope the second round will be just as enjoyable for all of you!
Third, particular thanks to CJ and Pipas for their feedback. This will help a lot. I agree that the flavour text gives away a bit too much. To be honest, it wasn't even planned that way in the very beginning, I just got carried away a bit. At the same time, I loved writing this. So, I do have to look into alternative ways of keeping it up without spoiling too much. I did notice that things seemed harder for the werewolves and the Outcast and definitely not just because of the mayor's unexpectedly long survival. Next time, things have to be more balanced in general. I do have some early ideas on how to pull this off a bit better, keeping flavour texts without necessarily spoiling too much.
I also agree that there should be more roles. I am a huge fan of All/Any in Town of Salem, where nobody knows how many roles there are, so I think for the next time, I will come up with a lot more roles than players (and again, if you have role ideas, let me know. Medium is noted, but I have to look into how the mechanics would work in a forum environment), give you an overview of each role and randomly assign them to you, potentially even assigning a role twice (though there will still be unique roles). There will definitely be some fine-tuning as well, such as the Jester being able to kill after being lynched or alternative mechanics for some roles.

Sign me up for round 2 :D
The thing I would change is when someone is going to die in the flavour text, you open up telling people who they are.
"But now, Disellis is Alpha over all that is left of the pack. The Stalker, he has his target for the night. And he, the new Alpha, he has his."
So within the first sentence you can tell that I was going to die, and CJ knew right away she had chosen the right target, so the action scene didn't have the same suspense as it would've had. It's only a small nitpick but it was something I had noticed.

Being killed broke my heart, I love these kinds of games. I'll definitely do another round. Hopefully I'll last more than one night.
Personally, while I do like the variety of roles, I kind of think classic Forum Werewolf is best, with 2-3 werewolves, no roles except Seer, maybe Jester. Having roles, I dunno, I think it makes the game much easier for Town, and limiting that (and making it more based on logic/random lynching), is better.
