The sun sets quicker than one might think.
I can’t remember the last time I saw the sun. Today was the first time in… I don’t know. Time has been finicky ever since the Pocket took me. I’m only writing this on the off chance I do get out of here, but… I don’t think so. But just in case I do get out of here and I’m insane and I can’t tell you about this, I’ll write it down. I’ll write it all down. I don’t remember when I got taken. No one in here does. It’s strange. A lot of us tried to keep track of the time but we just lost it. Everyone I’ve ever met just lost it. I used to be with a bunch of folk just outside of Tucson, we were hiding out in some gas station. But, y’now, then it started snowing, in Tucson, and it just kept snowing and the things came out of the snow and they all died so now it’s just me it’s just me it’s only
Me.
The sun. So weird. It’s been winter for about as long as I can remember now, it’s been dark for about as long as I can remember now and now that sun is in the sky and it’s just beating me and it’s growing bigger and bigger and I know that the Pocket knows I love that sun, I fucking love that sun because it’s hiding the sun again and. It hates me. I think the Pocket knows me better than anyone ever knew me and it hates me.
The Pocket knows me better than I know myself.
Welcome to the world of Lucidity. In it, normal people going about their lives are thrust into a new land that’s only goal is to make them suffer. A person could be taken at any time; while they’re sleeping, while they’re walking through the woods, even driving down the street. Many don’t even know they’ve been taken until much later.
Most inside have different names for this new land, but the most common is “The Pocket.” The world is much the same as our own, but the longer you stay the more… different it gets. The Pocket is uncaring amidst the sea of damned souls it takes and it takes without remorse, without discretion. Monsters, shadows, and other unspeakable threats plague The Pocket and hunt for survivors. Searching for an escape has proven fruitless to the bands of survivors already in there; but there could be a way out… there could be a way out.
Lucidity will be a surreal, existential, and violent endeavor. Besides the typical means of horror, it deals with mental illness, human savagery, and other dark subjects. Reader discretion is advised.
