Prologue: Welcome to Despair's Hotel
A pair of eyes opened to greet the darkened room. A bright light suddenly filled his senses as he shot up out of his bed, throwing the sheets across the room in a panic. Where...am I?
A groan escaped the teen's lips as he clutched his head with his right hand. An indescribable pain shot throughout his body, but quickly faded. After taking some time to recover, the teen decided to examine his surroundings. The room he found himself in appeared to be similar to a typical dorm room, complete with a table and pair of chairs, a nightstand with a lamp, a desk accompanied with a nearby trash can, and the comfortable bed he was taking a nap in earlier, now deprived of its sheets. The only thing that looked out of place was a single flat screen tv that seemed to be fixed to the wall. There also appears to be three doors in this room, one that has two handles. Opting to investigate the door that had a differing appearance, the teen reached out both hands and pulled on the handles. The doors slid across the floor gracefully, revealing its contents to be multiple sets of clothes. The sets of clothing were all similar in nature however, and reflected the current outfit the teen was wearing. There were long sleeved black dress shirts and black dress pants, as well as white dress shoes and white vests. The most eerie detail was the fact that all the vests possessed the same detail as the one he was currently wearing, a grey pawn icon on his left vest pocket. Feeling creeped out by this similarity, the teen closed the doors and walked towards the door on the opposite side of his room. This door proved to be less strange, as it presented nothing more than a simple bathroom. It had all the necessities of a private bathroom, as well as a shower. After turning the light on, the teen walked towards the mirror above the bathroom sink to check up on his appearance. His light blue eyes carried a few sleepless nights with them, but that could be fixed with a simple nap later on. His short blonde hair was a mess however, and the teen reached inside his vest pocket to procure a comb. After he was finished, his hair showed no sign of his bedhead from earlier, with the exception of a small cowlick he couldn't quite comb out. Feeling satisfied with his work, he exited the bathroom and made his way towards the final door. As he reached his hand towards the door knob, the teen heard a distant buzzing noise, accompanied by a strange jingle. Turning back around towards the sound of the noise, he soon realized the source of it was in the nightstand's drawer. Feeling embarrassed that he never thought to check it, the teen quickly opened the drawer, revealing a piece of paper and some kind of device. The item stopped making noise once he touched it. The piece of paper he retrieved was folded in half and had a seal covering it. Big, bold letters encompassed the paper, spelling out ' READ ME!'. I suppose I should read this first...?
Greetings and salutations, students of Hope's Peak Academy! You have all been accepted to attend our prestigious school where your talents will be cultivated and your personality shall be shaped! As a celebration to the sixteen of you lucky individuals, we've decided to bestow upon you a magnificent time in one of our own hotels, free of charge! Please take your enclosed Electro-ID with you before leaving your room, as you cannot lock the door without it, and be sure to chat with your fellow classmates! The time that each and every one of you spends together in this palace is very special indeed...More information will be presented once all sixteen of you have met each other. In addition, please refrain from leaving the hotel until the presentation. With all that said, I hope you all enjoy your stay here at the Sunset Grotto Hotel! See ya! -Headmaster MK That would explain the strange device...man, what a bizarre letter.
After reading the letter, the teen promptly balled it up and threw it in the direction of the trash can. Taking a closer look at his 'Electro-ID', the teen noticed that it took a look at his fingerprints when he grabbed it. The screen lit up, showing three options. They were labeled profile, students, and map. Curious about the nature of the device, he clicked 'profile'. PROFILE
Name: Masakazu Komuro
Talent: Ultimate Chess Player
Age: 16
Birthday: 04/08
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 120 lbs
Masakazu was shocked. Not only did this thing know his identity, but it also has his height and weight recorded. "How the hell did they figure this out..." He wondered, searching through the rest of his profile. "I mean, it's Hope's Peak, but still..." The rest of the profile listed his likes and dislikes, as well as his medical records. It even had his hobbies. Deciding enough was enough for that option, Masakazu clicked off of his profile and hit 'map'. He was excepting a grand array of rooms and services available, this was a hotel after all, but was displeased to find that the map only listed his room. "It must only save data on rooms that I've been to. Oh well." Masakazu clicked off that option and went onto the last one, labeled 'students'. STUDENTS

Disappointed by the lack of information on this option as well, Masakazu sighed. "Guess there's nothing for it then. I'll just have to explore this place myself and meet the others on the way." Masakazu picked himself up off his bed and deposited his Electro-ID into his pocket. He slowly made his way to the front door when a loud banging sound reverberated through it. "Hey, you alive in there?"
And that marks the first official post in this story! Well, what do you think? I had a lot of fun writing this, and I'm quite excited for whats to come. However, I do still require a few characters to meet the quota for this story. Can't write this without all 16, after all. So for those interested in making a character or two, please consider pming me a form! Currently, I have 3/8 males and 5/8 females. For those of you who submitted one character already, you may submit one more for a maximum of two. With that, I'll be awaiting a few more characters before continuing with our prologue. Hey! Wish I'd discovered this sooner. I'm not familiar with the series this is based on but I've heard of it and now I'm really intrigued by the premise. This seems a really fun and interesting story with potential for some really interesting characters. Definitely going to submit a character and might have a few questions.
Would I be correct in assuming that I won't need to be familiar with the series to understand what's going on?

Hey! Wish I'd discovered this sooner. I'm not familiar with the series this is based on but I've heard of it and now I'm really intrigued by the premise. This seems a really fun and interesting story with potential for some really interesting characters. Definitely going to submit a character and might have a few questions. Would I be correct in assuming that I won't need to be familiar with the series to understand what's going on? While knowledge of this series would help initially understand it, you don't specifically need to know about it to read the story. There will be minor references you won't know, but nothing too important.

Masakazu slowly approached the door, pausing to search for some sort of peephole upon it. After discovering the absence of one, he took a deep breath and opened the door. What awaited him on the other side was a sight that made Masakazu do a double take. A man stood outside his room, arms folded with a stature that dwarfed his own. He couldn't quite make out the type of voice he had heard through the door, but never did he expect to see this giant of a man. He wore black tennis shoes along with wide, black sweatpants and a grey tank top that allowed his enormous muscles to be easily seen. Taking a look at the man's face, he took note of his incredibly short dark brown hair, along with his short, stubble beard. As he was examining him, Masakazu realized that the man was currently frowning and casting quite a glare at him.
He cleared his throat before speaking to the chess player. "Did you have a peaceful rest?"
Despite the man's intimidating appearance, the word that left him felt oddly warm to him, as if they possessed genuine concern for him. "Well, apart from a headache earlier, fine I suppose?"
The man simply stared back in response, before cracking a grin. "Well then, I'm glad to hear it! The others and I were worried about you, since Kai mentioned that you still hadn't left your room."
Masakazu closed his door before continuing the conversation. "Thanks for the concern, but what do you mean by 'the others'?" Suddenly, the answer dawned on him. "Are you by chance a student of Hope's Peak too?"
The man gave a chuckle before flexing his muscles as some kind of display. "That's right! I'm Ryoma Takeda, Ultimate Strongman!"
RYOMA TAKEDA, ULTIMATE STRONGMAN
In contrast to the previous discussion, Ryoma's words seemed to have extra strength backed behind them, booming his confidence. Of course he's proud of his talent, most ultimates are.
After listening to Ryoma's declaration, Masakazu's eyes widened in realization. "How rude of me, I neglected to introduce myself first! I'm Masakazu Komuro, and I'm known as the Ultimate Chess Player. Pleased to meet you."
He then extended his hand in a gesture that the strongman instantly returned, albeit with a varied level of strength. "Don't sweat it, just glad you seem like a decent guy. An introduction like that really helps you look like quite the reliable ultimate!"
The handshake shared between them was interrupted by a buzzing sensation in Masakazu's pocket. He took out his Electro-ID to discover that there was a notification in the 'students' tab.
A similar effect occurred on Ryoma's Electro-ID as well, who opted to ignore the device and continue the conversation. "You should make up for lost time and start introducing yourself to the others. We're all stuck here together, after all. And make sure to meet up in the main hall when you're done." Ryoma then began walking away from him, before turning back and flashing another smile. "Oh, and another thing. Please refrain from causing Kasumi any trouble, or you'll regret it."
After giving that last bit of advice, the strongman left Masakazu to his own devices. Still slightly stunned by the last minute message, he decided to investigate the notification his Electro-ID received. Upon the page that was previously littered with question marks, Ryoma's name was plastered after the number three. He pressed on the strongman's name and was greeted with his information.

After reading the profile, Masakazu took his Electro-ID and looked for a mechanism to lock his door with. The letter mentioned Electro-IDs being the only way to lock and unlock doors, and after sliding his device against a nearby screen, an audible click was heard coming from his door. He tried opening it, but it didn't even budge. Above his door, he also noticed a small, white frame attached. Upon the frame was what Masakazu could only guess was a picture of him, except styled like an 8-bit character. Turning around, he saw that the entire hallway was filled with rooms and corresponding frames. After taking one last look at the hallway, Masakazu took off in the direction Ryoma left, with the intention of discovering any other students.
The chess player rounded several corners before noticing a figure on the other side of the hall. They had their back turned to him, but he was certain it was a girl. As he made his way to her, the girl turned around and leaned in quite uncomfortably close for Masakazu's liking. "Oh, it appears that the sleepy one has awakened, nya! Tell me...what is your purr-pose here, nya?"
The girl's voice was noticeably high pitched, and her way of speaking instantly caught Masakazu off guard. "I-I'm just looking for other Hope's Peak students."
The girl seemed to accept his answer, rapidly writing down something upon the notepad she had in her hands. Masakazu took this brief respite to examine the strange girl. She wore a white dress shirt with a red tie, both of which were under a buttoned up black vest. She also had black dress pants and dress shoes of the same color. The girl was slightly shorter than Masakazu, and had short brown hair. Her most striking characteristic was the pair of catlike ears upon her head, which made her entire outfit remind Masakazu of a maid cafe...not that he was into that sort of thing, of course.
The girl ceased her writing spree and gave Masakazu an inquisitive look. "Tell me, are you aware of the limitations of the human brain, nya?"
He raised his arms instinctively, as if they could shield him from the girl's verbal onslaught. "Nothing more than the average person, I guess."
Her eyes then widened, and she began pointing to several points on her notepad. "You see, humans are actually living in the past constantly due to the brain's purr-cessing speed, nya. When you see something, your brain takes time to purr-cess it, leaving our reactions paw-thetically slowed, nya. That being said, you being late isn't of any fault of your own, but it's due to your brain's speed, nya!"
She puffed out her chest afterwards, and Masakazu wasn't sure weather or not the statement was supposed to console or belittle him. He didn't dare ask. "Anyways, I'm Masakazu, Ultimate Chess Player. I purr-...um...presume you're a student as well?"
The girl deposited her notepad into one of her vest's pockets, before striking a pose that one could only describe as catlike in nature. "I sure am, nya! Ultimate Philosopher Ha-nya A-nyakouji, at your service, nya!"
HANA ANEKOUJI, ULTIMATE PHILOSOPHER
Another buzzing sensation emitted from his Electro-ID, as if confirming Hana's identity. He decided to leave it be for now, as poking through his classmate's personal information felt somewhat wrong to him. After her introduction, Hana retrieved her notepad and leaned even closer to Masakazu. "So, tell me...what are your thoughts on Aristotle, nya? Confucius, purr-haps?"
Masakazu gave a nervous chuckle before replying. "I'm in a bit of the rush at the moment...maybe you could point me in the direction of any other students and we could talk later?"
This seemed to appease the philosopher, who gave a mischievous smile before giving Masakazu his space back. "Tetsu-nya and Takako should still be in the cafe, nya. They wanted to cat-alog the food there or something, nya." After recieving directions to the cafe, Masakazu began his hasty retreat from the energetic philosopher.
Masakazu eventually reached a set of double doors, where Hana assured him the cafe was located. He could vaguely hear a discussion from within, and entered soon afterwards. The cafe itself was much larger than he expected, with the ceiling being atleast three times the height of Ryoma. Numerous amounts of circular and rectangular tables dotted the room, with individual chairs.
On the left side of the cafe was a kitchen, where two people sat and talked to one another. The man on the other side of the counter had slicked back brown hair along with blue eyes. His clothing gave Masakazu the vibe that he was a butler of sorts, as he wore a red dress shirt with a black bow tie in addition to black slacks and white gloves. He appeared slightly annoyed, as he wore a frown and constantly ran a hand through his hair.
Across from him was a woman who was slouching while listening to the man's ranting. She had brown eyes and long, black hair that was tucked into two oddly shaped buns at the back of her head. A headset was worn around her neck, and she had a grey and black t-shirt that read 'OTL' on the front of it, along with some baggy jeans and black sneakers. The woman didn't appear interested in the man's concerns in the slightest, as her expressions portrayed the idea that she was annoyed. Before the situation could escalate further, Masakazu decided to intervene. "Excuse me, what seems to be the problem here?"
As soon as he made his presence noticeable, both pairs of eyes were instantly on him. It seemed to cool the conversation, but only temporarily. "The problem? How about there not being enough food for sixteen people, huh? That sounds like a pretty big problem to me!" The man turned around and opened a nearby fridge. Inside were a few potatoes and beef products, as well as water and soda. "The other freezers have more food, but its still a far cry for sixteen hungry stomachs. What kind of hotel goes and hosts this many people, but neglects the necessities?!"
The woman straightened her posture slightly before turning to the upset man. "Tetsuya, just chill. They probably have staff out there getting more right now."
This didn't seem to help the man calm down, as he grew increasingly irritated. "That doesn't make it ok! I've seen my fair share of restaurants, but this takes the cake as one of the worst. If they invited me here with the expectation that I'd help them clean up this hotel's act, they're dead wrong."
Masakazu sat in a nearby seat as the man continued his rant, only daring to speak up once he was done. "I'm certain that's not why you're here, Mr...?"
The man looked back at Masakazu, as if he forgot the third person even entered the room, before leaning against the counter once more. "The name's not 'Mr', it's Tetsuya. Tetsuya Obara at your service, I guess. Ultimate Waiter."
TETSUYA OBARA, ULTIMATE WAITER
"Well then, good to meet you, Tetsuya. My name is Masakazu, the Ultimate Chess Player."
Tetsuya seemed lost in thought for a moment, before snapping his fingers. "Ah, right. You're the sleepy guy that no one's seen yet."
Masakazu gave a slight chuckle, both in embarrassment that he was apparently commonly referred as 'the sleepy guy' and glad his attempts at conversation distracted Tetsuya from his anger. "Yeah, that's me alright. Sorry to have worried any of you."
The waiter waved his hand dismissively. "Nah, I wasn't worried. I figured some people would take advantage of our situation to catch a few extra winks. Anyhow, I need to finish listing our dwindling amount of food supplies. Allow our resident gamer to provide you with a short hello before I drag her off to assist me...like she agreed she would."
Tetsuya disappeared through a door in the back of the kitchen, which Masakazu could only assume was the freezer area of the kitchen. Turning back to his unknown classmate, he outstretched his hand in a greeting. "Masakazu." The woman took a look at his hand and back to him before deciding to return the gesture. "Takako Kokubo, Ultimate Livestreamer. Good to meet-yer...Okay, no. I'm never saying that again."
TAKAKO KOBUKO, ULTIMATE LIVESTREAMER
Masakazu was confused at the meaning behind the livestreamer's greeting, but ignored it. "So, chess player, huh? How's that going?"
He scratched his head nervously, as Takako was the first person so far to really ask him anything about his talent. "It's ok, I guess? Well, more than that. Kinda hard to explain to someone who doesn't know much about chess. I guess the same goes for livestreaming?"
"Maybe. I dunno. Say, maybe you could invite me to a game of chess or whatever sometime later." Takako's expression was unchanging, but Masakazu had the feeling that the woman's suggestion was genuine. "Yeah, that'd be fun! Maybe you could teach me about livestreaming, in that case?"
"...Probably not." Takako then suddenly got up from her seat, and entered the freezer where Tetsuya was. Before Masakazu could even get a word in or follow her, the double doors where he entered swung open as a man barreled through them. He had dark tan skin and long brown hair, along with light brown eyes. He had a sleeveless grey tank top on, as well as black swim trunks and brown sandals. As the person ran towards him, Masakazu took note of the bracelet made of shells on his right wrist, the shark tooth necklace around his neck, and the bizarre tattoo on his left shoulder. "Dude, you're finally awake! Sweet!" The newcomer practically beamed at the chess player, who was a little lost for words with all the enthusiasm in the air. "Uh...Indeed, I am awake. Masakazu Komuro. And you are?"
Before answering, the man took Masakazu's hand and shook it profusely, giving him quite a shock. "Kai Kalani, dude! Ultimate Surfer, by the way!"
KAI KALANI, ULTIMATE SURFER
As soon as Masakazu regained his bearings, he gave Kai a warm smile. "Nice to meet you, Kai. Wasn't it you that told Ryoma to check up on me?" The chess player inquired, recalling the strongman's words.
"Nah. Well, kinda. I told him I was gonna keep an eye out for you to leave your room and get you up to speed, but you never left! It was a total bummer. Anyways, Ryoma heard and decided that he would have a better chance at waking you up if need be. Dude's got one hell of a voice, yeah?"
Masakazu simply nodded in agreement. It's a good thing he wasn't sleeping, or there's a good chance he would have woken up with ruptured eardrums. "By the way, do you have anything else to tell me? You seem a little...rushed."
The surfer's expression changed from friendly to nervous, and Masakazu suddenly had a bad feeling. Whatever was plaguing Kai's mind must've been really important to interrupt the man's cheerful demeanor. "Well, you see..."
Kai seemed lost in thought, as if he was searching for a way to water down the severity of his message. "I don't know if you've noticed yet, but it's kinda...hm..."
"Yes?"
"The sixteen of us...are kinda stuck in this hotel. Kinda."
"...Excuse me?"
And there we have it, the first set of characters for this story, finally introduced! I don't think I've ever been as excited to write something as I am with this story, so expect lots of love for this!
And a slight update, I still require two male and two female characters to completely finish the roster. Apart from that, you may still submit two characters per person. However, I already have a pair that works well together, so if you were to write two characters try and refrain from connecting them. My apologies in advance.
For those of you that have characters introduced, what do you think so far? Have I done them justice, or is there any criticism you have? Just to make the thread a bit cleaner, you can PM me with any concerns or ideas for your character. I'm very much willing to listen ^^

Oh.My.Gosh there's a cat girl. I'm so in! XD In all seriousness Hana is definitely my favorite so far. I really enjoyed this part, so many colourful characters. Excited to see where things go.

So it begins! That was a great prologue part, I really enjoy this story so far What I liked especially were the characters, they all seem super interesting already. Naturally, I enjoyed Ryoma, you wrote him perfectly as imagined, but the other characters really got to shine as well. While I never played the games, I know they all got a pretty colourful cast and these definitely did not disappoint in these regards, from the cat girl to the surfer bro. One thing I must say is, I really like these ultimates. I know I had a bit of a problem coming up with mine (though I am nonetheless happy with how they turned out), so I was super curious what the others would come up with. Must say, had you asked which ultimates I'd expect to see, none of these would have been among them. And while there is not a character I dislike so far, my favourite is probably Kai, because I never knew how much I needed a surfer dude in the story until you introduced him ^^

Also, Hana is great, the non-sequitur of her questions is landing really well... nya~EDIT: How many of the 16 character slots are filled? As of right this second, we have 15. The last student must be female, as the male slots have all filled up. As for the rest of the comments, I'm relived to have lived up to your expectations regarding your characters! I've never written a Danganronpa story before, and to know that everything is sailing smoothly on the character front livens up my day. A huge aspect of Danganronpa is the characters, after all. With that said, I'm pleased to announce that the next part is coming soon... -♞Chess Boi

Masakazu gave the surfer an incredulous look. He must've been joking, or at the very least misinterpreted the situation. "Are you quite alright? Maybe you're overreacting a little."
Kai calmly shook his head before replying. "Nah, I'm super serious. Talking about the whole thing kinda bums me out, but once you see the entrance hall you'll understand. Come on, I'll show you." After that, he turned and headed back in the direction he came from. Masakazu followed him, desperate for answers.
It took a few minutes, but the two ultimates eventually reached the destination Kai described. Once they had opened the doors leading to the room, Masakazu instantly understood the surfer's concern. The entrance hall appeared to be as one would expect from a hotel's foyer, a slightly larger than average room which contained some kind of information desk, seating for the visitor's convenience, and lavish looking plants and designs on the floors and walls. However, the one thing that was out of place caused his heart to jump out of his chest. Right at the end of the entrance hall, where the front doors to the hotel would've been, were two giant metal slabs.
It took Masakazu awhile to realize he was breathing harder than usual. He attempted to compose himself, and surfer turned to him with a worried gaze. "You alright, dude?"
After a few short seconds, the chess player returned to normal. "Sorry about that, I'm not quite sure what came over me." He looked once again towards the metal door, noticing for the first time that two figures were standing beside it. "If you would excuse me, I'd like to introduce myself to those two down there. I also need a moment to collect my thoughts."
Kai gave him a friendly pat on the shoulder, an action that helped ease Masakazu's nerves, if only a bit. "Well dude, if you need me I'll be around here or there. Catch ya later!" He then spun around and ran out of the entrance hall with all the energy he could muster. Masakazu took a second to adjust his vest and straighten his shirt before walking to the two students by the door. He wasn't quite sure why he had felt so frightened earlier, but wanted to make sure the others didn't feel affected by his mood.
He couldn't quite see what the two students were wearing, but he did notice that while one was examining the giant door specifically, the other was looking around in the nearby area. The one near the door must've heard his footsteps, because they turned around with alarming speed and began cracking their knuckles. "Hey! I dunno what the hell you think you're doin', but sneakin' up on us was a big mistake, asshole!"
Masakazu didn't expect this type of reaction in the slightest, and quickly tried to calm the woman down. "H-hey wait a minute, I didn't mean to sneak up on you! I just wanted to introduce myself, that's all!"
The muscular woman immediately stopped her intimidating gesture upon hearing those words, instead opting to cover a furrowed brow with one hand. "Ah shit, by bad. I'm just so stressed out, ya get me?" Her loud outburst was replaced with a deep and gruff tone, which further convinced Masakazu that the woman was regretful.
Before any further misunderstandings arose, he took the initiative and introduced himself. "Masakazu Komuro, Ultimate Chess Player." The girl took a second to clear her throat before replying. "The name's Sumire Ichijo, Ultimate Tattoo Artist! If ya ever feel like gettin' a tat done, hit me up and I'll see if I can getcha a discount for my outburst!"
SUMIRE ICHIJO, ULTIMATE TATTOO ARTIST
Wouldn't you be able to give me a discount regardless...?
Masakazu took this brief respite to examine the tattoo artist. She had short black hair in a sleek bob, and red eyes. She was slightly taller than him, with intricate tattoo sleeves covering her muscular arms. She wore a dark grey tank top that revealed a red flower on her right bicep, and had a black jacket tied around her waist. Black trousers covered her legs, and her shoes were dark grey trainers with red accents on them. He took notice of several similarities she shared with Ryoma, although this woman was not nearly as muscular or tall.
"Oi, Kimiko! Ya gonna come over here and greet Masakazu or what?" Sumire suddenly called out to the other person, who was kneeling over the information desk's counter. As they turned around, Masakazu could get a good look at her appearance.
She wore a white blouse under a grey unzipped jacket, along with a blue skirt and black boots. A pair of sunglasses were clipped to her jacket, and a silver bracelet could be seen on her right wrist. The girl's shoulder length hair was very unique, as it was almost entirely blonde apart from some tips and strands of her hair being colored purple. Her grey eyes seemed to analyze the chess player as she walked towards him. She then outstretched a hand, which had pink colored nails. "Hiya, my name is Kimiko Ryuga! What's your name? Ultimate ability? Any secrets you'd like to share?"
Despite first appearing to be indifferent or uninterested in talking to him, Masakazu soon realized just how extroverted this person was due to how fast she talked. "Erm...Masakazu Komuro, Ultimate Chess Player, and...not really?"
"I see, I see...oh, I'm a reporter, by the by. Or investigative journalist, whichever you'd prefer." Kimiko seemed to mull over the information she received before revealing her talent.
KIMIKO RYUGA, ULTIMATE INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST
"Ah, I understand why you'd be so desperate for my information then." Masakazu then turned his attention to the large door next to the three of them. "Do you two have any idea what the deal with this is, by the way?"
While Kimiko remained silent, Sumire merely shrugged. "Dunno, but its certainly no normal lookin' door. Kimiko was tryin' to find some sort of switch or somethin', but didn't have any luck." She then cracked her knuckles once more before turning to the two ultimates. "Alright, looks like we're just gonna have ta' force our way out!"
Kimiko exchanged a worried look with Masakazu before he expressed his concerns. "How could the three of us lift that? I doubt even Ryoma could, in all honesty."
Sumire turned back to the door, her determination solidified. "Maybe, maybe not. Can't rule it out unless we try!" The tattoo artist then rushed towards the huge door, attempting to pry it open from the left side. At a loss of what to do, Masakazu decided to assist her and used what little strength he had to pull on the right side.
Kimiko stood there in silence for a moment, before an auditory click was heard above our heads. "H-hey guys, get away from the door!"
Masakazu didn't have time to look at the source of the noise, but the panic in Kimiko's voice forced him to abandon his attempt at escape as he dived to the ground. Sumire did the same, and as soon as she did several loud cracks resounded throughout the entrance hall. Masakazu held his head instinctively, only releasing his grip once he smelled something indescribable. As he looked upon the ground in front of the metal door, he saw numerous amounts of holes in the floor. After taking a nervous gulp, he turned his gaze upwards. Right there on the ceiling above the door was some sort of machine gun, which pivoted back and forth before folding itself in half and retreating into the ceiling.
The three ultimates stared at each other in shock, Sumire especially. A long while passed before the tattoo artist broke the silence. "I'm, uh...sorry that happened, you guys. I fucked up."
Masakazu felt the weight of her words, and attempted to console her. "It's not your fault, how could you have known what would happen?"
"Nah, that thing shot at us because I messed with the door. That's a fact." Sumire then turned to the reporter. "Could ya do me a favor real quick? Go find the others and tell em not to bother with this door unless they wanna get turned into swiss cheese."
Sensing the seriousness of the situation, Kimiko simply nodded and took off in the direction Kai left from. "What about you, Sumire?" He asked, still feeling guilt over the situation.
The tattoo artist brushed the back of her head with a free hand, then turned to the bullet-riddled floor. "Guess someone's gotta stay here and make sure no one messes with this damn door. Gotta be me, since you probably still gotta introduce yourself to the others."
"I...suppose that's true. Stay safe, alright?" Masakazu gave the tattoo artist a sincere goodbye as he exited from the entrance hall's left wing. The mere sight of that metal door, coupled with the deadly nature of the machine gun gave Masakazu plenty to think about as he searched for the remaining students.
As he combed the empty halls and deserted corridors, Masakazu eventually reached a little alcove that was covered in glass windows. In front of the door to that area was a girl with long black hair worn in a ponytail. Her skin was pale in comparison to his own, and he could've sworn he could a glimpse of her sullen expression.
Masakazu approached the young woman with the intention of both introducing himself and possibly cheering her up. "Excuse me, are you alright there?"
The woman turned towards him, and Masakazu could see her outfit clearly. She wore dark blue skinny jeans with black sneakers, and had a black tank top under a brown leather jacket. Her facial features appeared quite delicate, and her eyes were a chocolate brown. "Oh, I'm doing just fine. Being trapped in a hotel does wonders for your natural complexion."
Her tone was steeped in sarcasm, and Masakazu found it difficult to come up with anything to reply with. "...Relax, it's just a joke. I'm fine, for the most part."
"Ah, I see. Sorry, I didn't realize it at first." Masakazu attempted to clear the air between the two with a friendly handshake. "Masakazu Komuro, Ultimate Chess Player."
The girl took a brief second to stare at his hand before giving it a somewhat weak shake. "Kasumi Takeda, Ultimate something-or-other."
After their introductions were over, Masakazu gave Kasumi a questioning glance. "Ultimate what?"
"I mean what I said. Ultimate something-or-other. I either have a talent or don't, but I don't know which." The buzzing sound that usually came from meeting a new student came from both of their Electro-IDs, and Kasumi eyed the device as he pulled it out. "Go ahead and check if you don't believe me."
Reluctantly, Masakazu did as he was instructed and opened the 'students' tab on his Electro-ID. Several names were filled out on the list, and Kasumi's name was placed after the number fourteen.

Masakazu stared at the profile of the woman before him for a minute longer than usual. Was there such a thing as someone being accepted to Hope's Peak without knowing or having a talent? He had never known of such an event, but the proof stared him right in the face. He turned his Electro-ID off and turned to Kasumi. "Please excuse my rudeness, I had no idea your situation was different from my own. Please forgive me."
She stared at him for a moment before sighing. "Don't sweat it, it's not a big deal. People usually ignore it once they find out I'm Ryoma's sister anyways."
KASUMI TAKEDA, ULTIMATE ? ? ? Masakazu recalled the strongman's warning, before suddenly making the connection. "Ah, you're the Kasumi he was talking about! Excuse my forgetfulness, I've had a lot on my mind recently."
"...Like I said, it's fine. Why don't you go ahead and do some chess stuff, or whatever it is you're good at and leave me be?" He must've touched a nerve, because the girl then turned around and walked right past him. Cursing his inability to cheer up Kasumi, Masakazu decided to continue his exploration.
A little ways away from where he met Kasumi was a commons area, filled with furniture and seating areas. Over in the corner of the room was a figure sitting at a table with a magazine in their hand. Once he got closer, Masakazu could see that the figure wore black pants and dark blue sneakers. A light grey hoodie covered his torso, and the hood was draped over his head.
As soon as he was within a comfortable distance from the man, Masakazu called out to him. "Excuse me, may I have a moment?"
The figure turned around, revealing his medium length red hair and round green eyes. "Ah...hello there." His tone was very low, as well as the speed of his sentences. "I assume you're the sixteenth student in this place...?"
Masakazu took a seat at the opposite side of the table. "Indeed I am. Masakazu Komuro, Ultimate Chess Player. And you?"
The boy took a minute to consider his reply. "Yuuki Roiya. Ultimate Puzzle Solver." He then resumed reading the magazine in front of him as Masakazu's Electro-ID buzzed yet again.
YUUKI ROIYA, ULTIMATE PUZZLE SOLVER
"Well, its nice to meet you, Yuuki. I hope we get to know each other very well."
"Yeah, so do I..." Yuuki replied, before sighing and placing his magazine on the table. "Another boring one, way too easy..." Masakazu leaned in to get a closer look at what Yuuki was referring to, before discovering that the magazine was full of crossword searches, all of which were completed. "Wow, that's really impressive!"
Yuuki stared at the magazine and then back to him. "Oh, you like it...? This is actually the third one I've completed." He put a hand to his chin in contemplation. "Say, chess is a type of puzzle, correct? Would that make us rivals?"
Masakazu thought for a few moments. Chess could be considered a puzzle, and the question of who would win a game between the two of them excited him greatly. "I suppose it could be, which would make us rivals of sorts. Why do you ask?"
"I welcome the challenge..." Instead of an answer, the puzzle solver merely gave a quiet response before pushing his chair in and walking away from him.
Once Yuuki left, Masakazu heard a strange sound coming from a hallway in the commons area. Upon investigating the disturbance, he found a man with spiked up red hair fiddling with some kind of machine. He constantly pushed the buttons on it, but the machine only whirred and made disappointing sounds that gave Masakazu the idea that it was out of power.
"Damn, that blows." The man simply said to himself, before turning around and almost running right into Masakazu. "Whoa, sorry there guy! Didn't see you there."
Masakazu gave the man a once over before speaking. He wore a blue jacket with a yellow shirt under it, along with grey shorts and white sneakers.
"No harm done. I'm Masakazu, and you?"
The man cracked a grin and stuck his thumb out towards himself. "Yo, I'm Jirou Harada, Ultimate Comic Book Artist! That basically means I'm the best."
JIROU HARADA, ULTIMATE COMIC BOOK ARTIST
Masakazu gave a slight chuckle. "I'm sure you are. What's the deal with that thing over there, by the way?" He motioned towards the strange machine. "Oh, that piece of junk? Nothing too impressive. It was covered in some sort of tarp and had a sign that said 'out of order', so naturally I had to check it out." Jirou's excited smile then turned to a depressed frown. "It looked like some form of music player, but it's all old and rusty. I thought maybe we could get it working and play some rock music, but no dice. It's totally busted."
Maybe your first clue would've been the sign that literally said it was broken...
The comic book artist's demenor quickly changed however, and he passed Masakazu with a spring in his step. "Ah well, you win some and you lose some. I'll catch you around later, Masakazu! Remember who to look for when you need an amazing comic!"
As Jirou left, Masakazu stood there in contemplation. Despite the fact that they were apparently trapped here, so many of the students like Jirou and Kai had positive personalities and didn't let the situation get them down. Of course, there were also people like Takako and Kasumi, who are either taking this experience harder than the rest of them or simply don't care. This whole situation was bizarre. Waking up in a strange place, that letter in his nightstand, all these ultimates together, this deserted hotel...and of course the metal door and its machine gun. Masakazu had so many questions, yet no answers.
Well, I won't find any just sitting around here moping.
With that, the chess player departed from the commons area, in search of the last five of his classmates.
Another part, another five characters introduced to the story! Same as last time, any criticisms or ideas of your characters are very much welcome. I want to make sure I'm portraying them correctly.
I've also decided to add a question on the end of each post, to encourage discussion. You all seemed very eager to list your favorites for the last part, so here's the question for today:

As you might've guessed, the next part will introduce the last five members of our cast before the story really starts off. Until next time!

OH IT'S STARTING... I'm really excited to see how this story goes! I'd love to see what you're gonna do with all these characters. I myself am EXTREMELY delighted that my dumbass daughter already got herself SHOT AT on her first day in Hotel Despair. And Masakazu seems like a nice boy, I'm glad he's the protagonist!
To answer the QOTD, I'm very fond of Yuuki so far. Just casually asks someone he just met if they should be rivals. What a guy! I also have to say, since I haven't had the chance to comment on the first chapter, that Hana is pawsitively purrfect. I know this and I love her. She even got Masakazu doing the cat puns!! MVP!!
Other things of note... the siblings seem like they're gonna be interesting, especially since one of them is the token amnesiac. Overall, though, I'll be looking forward to any future updates!

Yuuki, yes! It's so awesome that he's here now. I love how he's written so far. And now I really want them to play chess, I like Masakasu is excited by the idea, could be an interesting relationship. Also I love how Yukki just walks away without saying anything! XD To haystack and madsinzero: Also just want to quickly say I'm glad you guys, like him. I submitted him if that wasn't already obvious. QTOD: Since I'm obviously biased towards Yukki, I'm gonna say Kimiko. She's interesting and pretty likeable so far.

Out of these new characters, I find Yuuki and Kasumi pretty interesting. It will be interesting to see if Yuuki and Masakazu develop a sort of friendly rivalry. Kasumi not knowing if she is an ultimate makes her mysterious and intriguing. I am also quite fond of Kimiko Ryuga for obvious reasons.

Well I'm going to do the biased thing and say I like my characters Tetsuya and Jirou. Seems like no one else feels the same so far but oh well. I also really like Hana and Kasumi so far and I can't wait to see the last five characters and what there like.

It's sorta too early for me to weigh in on the characters, I'm afraid! I'm the kinda person who needs a bit more than an introduction before I can pass judgement. That said, I did doodle Tetsuya earlier. I guess that counts for something. :thinking: I think, come to think of it, out of the first group of characters, I'm most interested in Takako.

Ah, I really enjoyed meeting the new characters here. The cast already grows on me and I just know, it'll be hard, knowing that quite a number of these characters will not survive the story. Oh man, I don't look forward for that, but I look forward for more story in general, and to learn more of these characters! Once more, I am also very excited about how colourful these ultimates are.
As for your question, I try to fight my bias. I mean, I loved the way you've introduced Kasumi here, but aside from that, I kinda like all of them. So, naming a favourite will be hard. Out of only these five newly introduced people, I would say... Yuuki? Feels kinda bad to name just one, but I like how he is immediately up for that rivalry thing. As great as all of them are, he stood out for me the most in this part. But as I said, I look forward for more of them in general and I bet once the first chapter is over, I will be able to give you a better overview of who is my favourite and least favourite.

A small ways away from the commons area he had came from, a much more incredible sight awaited Masakazu. After opening two large mahogany colored doors, a magnificent room revealed itself. Its size dwarfed even the cafeteria's large stature, tapestries and paintings covered several inches of the walls. In the middle of the room, two sets of staircases rose skyward, parallel to one another. As his eyes climbed the steps, Masakazu noticed the enormous crystal chandelier jutting from the high ceiling above. Whatever purpose this room held, its majestic and impressive decor captivated him. When his eyes had finally had enough, he turned towards the only other person in the enormous room.
Nearby one of the corners of the room, a man sat down in a leather armchair. His legs were propped up by a footrest, and his arms were crossed. His clothes consisted of a white button-down shirt with the right sleeve rolled up with a black waistcoat, as well as black trousers and dress shoes. Masakazu could also barely catch a glimpse of the black suit jacket tied along his waist. On his neck was a very loose azure colored necktie, and his hair was black, cut in a short buzz style. Once he got closer, Masakazu realized that he was fast asleep. Reluctantly, Masakazu attempted to rouse the man from his slumber.
“Excuse me, hello sir?” Masakazu gave the man’s shoulder a light tap, before reeling back as he immediately opened his eyes and sighed.
“What is it with you people and not letting me get any sleep? It’s a damn annoyance.” His sharp black eyes pierced Masakazu, and he immediately regretted making contact.
The chess player cleared his throat and gave the man some space to stand and stretch. The faint outline of a scar could be seen on the back of the man's head. “I’m sorry for waking you, but I just wanted to introduce myself. Masakazu Komuro, Ultimate Chess Player. And you are…?”
Once he was done stretching, the man turned to face Masakazu. “Kenji Ishikawa, Ultimate Kendo Fighter. Can I get back to my nap now?”
KENJI ISHIKAWA, ULTIMATE KENDO FIGHTER
Masakazu bowed to the man as a sign of respect before backing away from the leather chair. "Of course, please do so. I apologize once more for disturbing you."
Kenji gave the chess player an inquisitive look before shrugging and taking up his previous position on the chair. Before Masakazu walked out of earshot, the kendo fighter yelled out to him. "If you're looking for the others, a group of them went upstairs to investigate. Go up the stairs and take a hard right." Masakazu turned back to give appreciation for the directions, but Kenji quickly dismissed him with a wave of his arms. Deciding it best to leave him to his dreams, Masakazu ascended the staircase and followed Kenji's directions.
As he was passing a corridor, Masakazu heard a loud crash from down the hall. He quickly sped up his pace, the noises intensifying with each second. He quickly discovered the source of the disturbance, or rather, where it was located. Masakazu found himself at the entrance to two restrooms, one for men and the other for women. Both were distinguished with their own symbols, and colored blue and pink.
Masakazu gave a short knock on the woman's restroom door, where the noise originated from. "Hello? Are you alright in there?"
Whatever was causing all the noise ceased, and Masakazu could hear the swift sound of footsteps coming closer to the door. He quickly backed off before the door flung open with great force, a woman his height rushing out. She wore a white dress shirt under a red vest with a black tie. She also had black pants and shoes. A brown trench coat completed her outfit, coming down to her ankles. Her hair was black and cut short, and her face possessed a look of annoyance.
"What do you want, sleepy guy? I'm trying to do a fucking investigation here."
Masakazu was caught off guard from the woman's sudden outburst, but tried his best to regain his calm demeanor. "Sorry, but I just wanted to introduce myself. Also to make sure you were alright, since there was a ton of noise coming from here."
She crossed her arms, turning her head back to the restroom door. "Like I said, I'm investigating here. That noise was me making sure this bathroom was legit and not hiding any secrets."
The chess player gave a confused glance, and the strange woman glared at him. "Don't give me that look like you think I'm a damn crazy person. Do you know how many secret passages a bathroom could hide? C'mon, I'm a fucking Ultimate student, and a detective besides! Give me some respect, asshole..."
Masakazu raised his arms in defense before trying to resolve the situation. "I didn't mean to make you upset, I was just confused. I'm Masakazu Komuro, the Ultimate Chess Player. A detective, huh? That sounds interesting."
That small bit of praise seemed to please the detective, who relaxed her expression. "Damn right it is! Name's Detective Yubiseiharukana. Don't wear it out."
YUBISEIHARUKANA SEI, ULTIMATE DETECTIVE
"That's quite a long name, would you mind if I called you something else? A nickname, perhaps? We'll be classmates, after all." The chess player gave Yubiseiharukana a sincere smile, which she returned with another glare.
"Either call me by my full name or nothing at all, asshole. End of discussion." She quickly turned her head in the direction of the male's restroom. "Here's an idea, go and visit the two noisy extroverts in the laundry room down the hall while I finish up here. And don't give me any lip about going into the men's bathroom, got it?"
"I guess I'll have to...thanks?" The detective turned without another word, entering the men's restroom. As Masakazu walked away, he could hear the faint sounds of objects hitting the floor.
The laundry room was easy to find, a helpful sign designating the location with a washing machine icon on it. When he entered, two figures stopped what they were doing to look at him.
One was noticeably shorter than the other, wearing a light red jacket with a white skirt under it. She also had a dark red colored top hat and held a cane that was black with a gold colored orb on the end of it. Her hair was a golden yellow, flowing down to her back, and she possessed hazel eyes.
In contrast, the taller girl wore red and green tartan patched black skinny jeans with a large necked, loose fitting white shirt with an equalizing print along the bottom. An olive drag bomber jacket hung loosely over her shoulders, covered in patches and logos. The most eye catching piece of her outfit were her headphones, which were huge. Her hair seemed long and wavy, dyed various shades of vibrant reds. A wide streak of dyed white hair goes from the top of her hair above her right eye to the tips of her hair. She also had bright hazel eyes. Masakazu was surprised at the girl's height and the fact that she was a bit heavier in the waist, making her look much older than most students her age.
Once Masakazu was done examining the two, he introduced himself. "Sorry for disturbing the two of you, I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Masakazu Komuro, the Ultimate Chess Player."
Almost immediately, the two females gave wide smiles and stopped investigating the room to converse with him. "Oh hey, you're the guy we haven't seen yet! Wow, I'm so glad you seem so polite!" The smaller girl rushed towards Masakazu, extending the palm of her hand. "Risa Torikoro, Ultimate Magician, at your service!"
RISA TORIKORO, ULTIMATE MAGICIAN
Masakazu gave the magician a warm smile and shook her hand, before noticing that the other girl had already walked up to him and offered her own handshake. "Konomi Kiradou, Ultimate Audio Technician. Like Risa said, it's so nice to meet someone so kind. Not to say any names, but some people here are real pieces of work."
KONOMI KIRADOU, ULTIMATE AUDIO TECHNICIAN
After finishing with formalities and handshakes, Masakazu looked around the laundry room. It seemed like your everyday run of the mill laundry room, complete with a ton of washers, dryers, and baskets. Carts were also parked in the corner of the room, no doubt there to provide a way to transport clothing.
"So, anything interesting to say about this place?" The chess player inquired.
Konomi adjusted her headphones before replying. "Other than the usual you'd find here? Not likely. We've looked for ages, trust me."
Risa took a nearby basket and shoved it to the end of the room before turning to the two ultimates. "Enough of this boring old laundry talk, how about something exciting?"
"Like what, exactly?" Masakazu asked, backing away slightly from the audio technician, who had gotten a little too close for comfort.
Instead of answering, Risa took off her top hat and twirled it around a bit, before tapping it three times with her cane. When she turned it up, a small pillow fell out. The magician quickly scooped it up and deposited it back into the hat and did the same actions. Once the hat tipped over, however, a small white sheet fell out instead. Impressed by the trick, Masakazu gave a short bit of applause while Risa bowed.
"It'd be a lot more amazing with rabbits and pigeons and stuff, trust me. I know tons of card tricks too!"
"I'm sure you're an amazing magician, that trick itself is intriguing!" Masakazu praised the small magician, the simple yet interesting trick captivating him.
Risa twirled her hair a bit and giggled before flashing a mischievous smile. "Oh, you like it, huh? Maybe I like you."
This comment caught Masakazu off guard, and he could feel his face starting to become red. "I, um..."
Konomi rolled her eyes with a wry smile and begun pushing Masakazu out of the room with minimal force. "Come on now, give the guy a break. Let him finish finding the others while we clean this place up. See you later!" Masakazu turned and waved his goodbye to the two ultimates, catching a glimpse of Risa's smug face and Konomi's wink.
As soon as he turned around, he immediately collided with someone else, and both of them fell to the ground. a pair of sunglasses slid across the floor towards Masakazu, and he quickly scooped them up and presented it to whoever dropped them. The man, who had grey eyes, looked at the eye wear and took them from Masakazu, donning them without a second thought. He then gave Masakazu a hand standing up, which gave the chess player enough time to examine him.
He wore what seemed to be the typical Hope's Peak uniform, the brown blazer with a red tie being worn over a white dress shirt with black dress pants and shoes. However, something was off about this ensemble. The blazer seemed baggy for the man's scrawny frame, and standard issue pants for Hope's Peak uniforms were brown, not black. Last but not least, there were several ink stains on the man's white dress shirt. He ran a hand through his short brown hair, which looked rather messy.
Masakazu cleared his throat once the man finished fixing his hair. "Sorry about that, not the best way to start an introduction. Masakazu Komuro, Ultimate Chess Player. And you are?"
The man seemed to pause before carrying on the conversation. "I'm Jack. Just Jack. If you want more info, you can just look me up. I'm not wasting time on introductions."
Confused by the man's seemingly dismissing behavior, he stretched his arm out for a handshake. "Ok...? Nice to meet you?"
"Oh, fine then. If you're gonna twist my arm, sleepy boy. Jack Wayne, Ultimate...Secretary. Happy?" Jack seemed to pause mid sentence, but took Masakazu's gesture with a shaky hand.
Once the handshake was over, Jack immediately bent over and rubbed his ankle. Masakazu looked as the secretary rolled down his sock. The ankle seemed very swollen and discolored, and Jack silently cursed under his breath as he rubbed it. "That looks bad, how long has it been swollen like that? That wasn't my fault, was it?"
"If I said you sprained it just now, would you feel even more apologetic than you apparently are?" Jack quickly sighed and rolled his sock up. "Nah, this has been like that since I woke up today. But thanks for the concern and pointless questions, chess boy."
Once that discussion was over, Masakazu took a second to pull his Electro-ID out of his pocket. It had been buzzing constantly the entire time he chatted with Jack, much more so than any other student. As soon as he was about to turn it on, Jack stopped him. "Hey, whoa now! What's that for?"
"I'm trying to see why it's making such a fuss. It's very inconvenient."
"You probably broke it or something when you fell. It started vibrating around then."
"No, I'm fairly certain it started after that. Why do you care so much?"
"No reason, I just know. Mine's done that too. Broken right now, in fact." Jack then took out his own Electro-ID and turned it towards Masakazu. It didn't look damaged in the least, nor was it buzzing. Jack's thumb then slipped onto the screen, and it flashed to life from scanning his fingerprint. The screen displayed his information, and Masakazu tried his best to ignore it. Two parts of the page caught his eye before he could look away, however. PROFILE

Masakazu raised an eyebrow and turned his attention back to the 'secretary'. "What did you say your name was again?"
Jack took a second to reply, running a hand through his hair again. "Jack Wilson."
"And your talent?"
"Ultimate...Writer?"
Masakazu gave a slight nod before slowly turning his own Electro-ID on without Jack noticing. After making it to the 'students' tab, he opened Jack's profile. PROFILE
Name: Jackson Miller
Talent: Ultimate Forger
Age: 17
Birthday: 05/04
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 104 lbs
After reading the information on the profile, he turned his attention back to Jack. The so called secretary seemed nervous, and the chess player simply turned his Electro-ID towards him.
"...Ah, shit."
JACK MILLER, ULTIMATE FORGER
"Why exactly are you lying, when your profile says everything about you?"
"Because I thought you'd never check it!"
"You mean that you never once thought that someone would check their Electro-ID, even when it buzzes each time someone introduces themselves?!"
"...You got me there. Guess I should've done that."
Masakazu rubbed his brow and took a few deep breaths. "Sorry for losing my temper there. But seriously, don't go around lying like that. How many people did you straight up lie to?"
The forger didn't reply, instead only counting his fingers. "...Everyone?"
"Wow, ok. That's bad." Masakazu pondered this information before continuing. "Maybe you should go and tell everyone the truth. Those that haven't already read it, that is."
Jack, who only just then realized his Electro-ID was on, quickly turned it off and returned it to his pocket. "Sure thing, I guess. You win."
Masakazu was about to do the exact same with his own Electro-ID before a loud ringing sound came from a few loudspeakers nearby. They seemed to be adjusting themselves in volume before a tapping sound was heard from the background. After that, a voice that Masakazu could only describe as incredibly high pitched and overly annoying spoke through the intercom.
"Ahem. Attention, attention please! All students of Hope's Peak are requested to meet in the Grand Hall in thirty minutes. Now that you have all had time to introduces yourselves, it is time for this hotel's festivities to commence! I repeat, all students please head for the Grand Hall. This has been a public service announcement by Headmaster Monokuma."
Oh boy, the final five cast members are properly written at long last! Sorry for the time it took to post this, both sickness and the holidays kinda took all my energy out of me. But now that everything's back to normal, I can start writing this story again!
