"Mortals cower when the chalice of catastrophe pours down upon them, but they shall know that the divine plagues are twofold in nature..."
Twice, not once, the twin brothers' strife shall emerge and the Shaper of Shapes shall succumb, so that the Taker of the World must succumb in return
When the First Mark succumbs to his hatred, when the Second obeys his will, when the Third wages his war, when the Fourth follows his path, when the Fifth buries his strife, when the Sixth seals his divinity, when the Seventh accepts his purpose, then the Seven Marks shall be sacrificed and eternally there shall be only HIM and the calm before HIS storm
Greetings, I am LiquidChicagoTed. Most of you probably know my interactive fanfiction Forum of Thrones, which can also be found here at Creator's Haven. Having written this story for almost four years now, I have no intention of slowing down. However, lately I have grown hungry to expand a bit, to tackle another project alongside it, with which I plan to gain more variety in the setting I can write about. This has led me to the conclusion that I wish to write about the world of The Dark Eye.
The Dark Eye is a german RPG, similar to Dungeons and Dragons and, in fact, inspired by it. With over thirty years of history behind it, it is by far the most famous of RPG's in Germany. Set in the fantasy world of Dere, on the continent of Aventuria, it offers hundreds of fantastical stories and scenarios, in a diverse and fascinating fantasy setting. I myself am a regular player and DM and have decided to bring one of the most famous of tales in the world of the Dark Eye to life in a new form, as an interactive story.
Aventuria itself is a very diverse continent, a rich setting with loads of lore behind it. This lore, as I completely understand, might be a bit much for a newcomer. There are different races, gods and demons, kingdoms, history and magic. If I were to compare The Dark Eye to two famous settings, I would say it combines the epic scale of Lord of the Rings with the more grounded drama of A Song of Ice and Fire and this is precisely the kind of story I mean to tell. Epic in scale, yet keeping an eye on creating a believable fantasy world, where politics and interpersonal relations are a core aspect of the narrative. To help you with creating a character, I have created several extensive guides that should help with giving you an overview of the setting. Just follow these links here:
It is the year 1015 after the Fall of Bosparan. The Middenrealm, most powerful nation in Aventuria, is suffering under the incompetence of its previous emperor, his young son left with a realm filled with problems. Enemies gather from the outside, political rivals plot on the inside. The March of the Thousand Ogres and the Orkenstorm have left tens of thousands dead and even more homeless. To the south, the Khom war has majorly shaken up the political landscape of southern Aventuria, shattering the military might of the powerful Al'Anfanian empire and giving their enemies, the Novadi caliphate newfound strength and pride. For a moment, the continent seems to hold its breath, as everyone, from the poorest of peasants to the wisest of scholars feels that something big is about to happen, something that will shake Aventuria to its core.
And in the shadows, an ancient cult gathers the despairing, the downtrodden and dissatisfied. They preach of change, they preach of the return of their master, who will put an end to the old Aventuria, after which he will usher in an age of peace, freedom and justice. They preach of the mage Borbarad, whose time will come again...
The story is my retelling of the largest and most important campaign for The Dark Eye, the "Marked Seven" campaign. It revolves around the Marked Seven, ordinary Aventurians who are marked as divine champions, to prevent the return and triumph of the dangerous mage Borbarad, the Master of Demons. While the original campaign has the player characters as the Marked Seven, this story will put a twist on it. Of course, your submitted characters can follow this role. However, due to its nature as an interactive story, I have the possibility to allow for different viewpoints beyond what the campaign usually offers. Borbarad and his followers, the Borbaradians, are the antagonists of the original campaign. However, this story naturally allows for character submission and I allow just about any sort of character, be they good, evil or somewhere inbetween. This means, your characters are not limited to the Marked Seven and their allies, but if the story allows it, I would be delighted to show different viewpoints, from those loyal to the Middenrealm all the way to followers of Borbarad who seek to overthrow the nations of Aventuria. As such, the story could grow quite large in its proportions. Your choices will have a major effect on the way the events will play out and how much this story might divert from the events of the original campaign. As such, character submission and choices will be a big part of this story, as some of you already know from Forum of Thrones.

You can submit as many characters as you like, there is absolutely no limit for how many characters you can submit, or what backgrounds they have. If it is a character you could submit for a Game of Thrones based fanfiction, it should be perfectly possible to have them work in the setting of the Dark Eye just as easily. Naturally, I know there is a lot to take in to understand the setting. The guides I linked above can help, but those of you who need further assistance to submit their characters, feel free to contact me either directly here, in the Discord or in private, depending on how you prefer it.
